LGCC BOOK PROJECT

The Story.

Every summer, I've attended Bible camp at Lake Geneva Christian Center in Alexandria, Minnesota. This place brings in thousands of kids per summer and impacts so many lives. My first year attending Senior Teen camp, I was walking around the grounds and God nudged at my heart. He said, "Grace, capture my hand at Lake Geneva Christian Center with your hand." To explain, I have a passion for writing and He wants me to use it by capturing the work he has done at this place. Thousands of kids have attended camp, experienced the real and powerful God, or have kept coming back waiting for that moment. He wants me, Grace Dahlager, to capture the stories that have left Lake Geneva and are carried in the hearts of many. 

The Goal.

As a college sophomore, this project God put on my heart may seem impossible in some eyes. It's hard to understand on certain occasions but I believe I can make this come to life but this isn't just my story to write, it's yours! My goal with this project is to listen to God and hear where he wants to take this. For a start, I want to collect as least 100 stories and a limit of 300. I want the world to know that God is real and he has proven that at Lake Geneva Christian Center. If you are saying yes to this goal, keep on reading!

The Qualifications.

If you have attended Lake Geneva Christian Center at any point in your life and God has shown you that He is real, I am excited to hear your story!

Submitting your story:

  • Anyone who has attended Lake Geneva Christian Center (you could currently be a student, counselor, pastor, parent, etc. If you still talk about it, you can submit it!)

  • Experienced God in one of three ways: you witnessed a miracle, you had a moment with God individually, and God worked through you to impact others around you. 

These two points are the simple criteria for submitting your story. If you fully say yes to both, more in detail qualifications are in a PDF down below. If you have a different experience you'd like to share, contact me personally.

 

The Expectations.

If you are choosing to submit your story to this wonderful journey God has put me on, thank you! But I have some expectations when it comes to YOUR submission...

  • Put yourself in the moment. Let the reader feel like he/she is there experiencing it.

  • Your submission must be AT LEAST a page long in 12 point font.

  • Be prepared for your submission to change a bit. Once it is submitted and reviewed, it will be edited to be fully prepared for the final copy! (If any major editing, you will be contacted)

  • Leave only your first name and the church you were part of at the time of the encounter at the end of your story. 

  • Proofread your story before submission. It will make the editing process so much faster!

GUIDELINES

The Options.

The reason I kept coming back to Lake Geneva Christian Center was that I knew God was always there. I was waiting for my moment with God but I will be honest, I spent many camp summers in tears because I felt that moment would never happen. Timing is huge in God's eyes so if you are in this place, he has something in store for you! Just you wait! 

Now, if you don't have that story to share yet and want to help out, I have options for you! This is also for the ones sharing their story. I have ideas in my head for what I'd like to do but I want to see what YOU can come up with! Here is what I'm searching for...

  1. ARTWORK - I am in search of a book cover design! Be creative and think, "what will fit this project?" Submissions MUST be in an online format!

  2. TITLE - If you thought this book was named "LGCC Book Project" you are wrong! I need creative minds to help brainstorm the PERFECT title for this book. What will fit the book the best? 

  3. DONATIONS - Since I'm starting this project individually, I need help funding this book so I can publish it down the road. All donations are going towards the LGCC Book Project. ​

Since this is still a dream in the making, there are no current deadlines for any of the submissions. Deadlines will be announced if..

  1. Submissions for stories are coming in fast and or surpass the goal

  2. The artwork has been chosen

  3. A title has been chosen

If deadlines are made, they will appear on this page and on media. I'd be so excited to make deadlines which will drop a hint that publishing is in the near future. With that, I do not have a day this project will be finished. This day will hopefully be announced soon!
